Affordable Housing

Park House is a new development in Bronx Community, located at 4275 Park Avenue in the Bathgate section of the Bronx.The building will contain 227 available units of affordable housing for low income families and individuals. Upon the buildings completion, services available will include 245 hour security/attended lobby, on-site laundry and courtyard. Apply on line or through the mail. WOMEN'S PEER GROUP

The group meets year-round on alternating Friday's from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. The next group meets April 7th and 21st. Topics include life experiences, relationships and other issues of interest. To join or to get additional information, please call Michelle at ext. 202.

MEN'S PEER DISCUSSION GROUP

This Workshop at SICIL is designed for our male consumers and takes place on alternating Fridays. All male consumers are welcome -- topics are informational, entertaining and geared towards current events. To join or to get additional information, please call Frank at ext. 206.

COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAM

SICIL continues to offer its free computer classes focusing on basic Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel along with developing an understanding of the Internet. Classes are given in a relaxed atmosphere with a no pressure curriculum. To be placed on the waiting list for upcoming classes or to get additional information, please call Frank at ext. 206.

AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES

If you have a deaf or hearing impaired relative and wish to learn to communicate with them using American Sign Language these classes are for you! Please call Veronica at ext. 200 for details and to sign up.

ADDITIONAL WORKSHOPS AT SICIL

Health and Wellness -- The goal of this group is to teach women with disabilities the information they need to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Topics include: importance of healthy eating & exercise, importance of vitamins & minerals and sharing of healthy recipes and food choices. The classes take place Tuesdays, once a week for approximately 3 months. The next group will begin middle of April. To register for the next session please call Michelle at ext. 202.

Blind/Low Vision Groups -- Please join us for these monthly groups to share and discuss social, family and daily issues. Please call Michelle at ext. 202 for our next meeting.

Domestic Violence Prevention Workshops -- These weekly workshops take place for nine (9) sessions over a three (3) month period. The focus of this workshop will be to teach women with disabilities the skills necessary to identify, prevent and escape abuse and abusive situations and ways to foster healthy relationships. As the workshop is primarily educational, women who wish to participate do not have to have had any personal experience with these issues. Classes are held on Thursday's from 10:30 am -- 12:00 pm in May. Please call Michelle at ext. 202 to reserve your seat for the next session. We offer $10.00 per workshop at the end of the 9 sessions if completed and a metro-card to be used to travel to and from the Center.

Therapeutic Pool Group -- Its pool time at The Elizabeth Connelly Center Pool on the last Wednesday of each month at 12:00. All medical forms need to be updated annually. For more information or to be added to the group call Rita at ext. 203.

Macy's Herald Square -- Come one, come all to our celebration of the iconic American carnival, reimagined with organic installations and floral arrangements throughout select Macy's stores. Lose yourself in the quirks and delights of the early 20th century fairs. Immerse yourself in the nostalgia of candied foods and the romance of old carousels. Fill yourself with the orchestral music from Wurlitzer organs. Step right up and interact with the Flower Show in a whole new way.
